Sandwich Panel

Sandwich Panel

Steel sandwich panels are widely used building materials that provide excellent thermal insulation and sound insulation. They also retain the key advantages of color-coated steel, including high strength, good corrosion resistance, lightweight construction, easy installation, low maintenance requirements, and a clean, modern appearance.

They are widely used for roofing and wall systems in industrial buildings, warehouses, sports facilities, supermarkets, cold storage facilities, modular buildings, and other construction projects.

We offer sandwich panels made with GI, GL, PPGL, and PPGI steel, with a wide range of options for panel designs, core materials, thicknesses, dimensions, colors, and surface patterns to meet different building requirements.

What Is a Sandwich Panel

A sandwich panel consists of an insulating core material bonded between two layers of metal sheet. Our sandwich panels are available with galvanized steel (GI), galvalume steel (GL), pre-painted galvanized steel (PPGI), and pre-painted galvalume steel (PPGL).

Sandwich panels with galvanized steel facings are generally more cost-effective than those with pre-painted steel facings.

Sandwich panels are typically classified according to their core material, including EPS (Expanded Polystyrene), PIR (Polyisocyanurate), Rock Wool (RW), XPS (Extruded Polystyrene), PU (Polyurethane), and PF (Phenolic Foam).

The main differences between these core materials include fire resistance, thermal insulation, sound insulation, moisture resistance, and overall performance. The appropriate core material can be selected according to the building type, environmental conditions, and specific project requirements.

Applications of Steel Sandwich Panels

Insulated sandwich panels are widely used as roofing and wall cladding in buildings ranging from industrial facilities to commercial properties. Common applications include:

  1. Industrial Buildings

  2. Cold Storage Facilities

  3. Agricultural and Livestock Buildings

  4. Construction Site Buildings

  5. Residential Buildings

How to Choose the Right Sandwich Panel

When selecting a sandwich panel, consider factors such as the intended application and environmental conditions. The appropriate core material, steel sheet, coating, thickness, and color should be selected according to the specific requirements of the project.

The outer steel sheet should provide good weather resistance, including resistance to temperature changes, wind, and UV exposure. The inner steel sheet may be exposed to different chemical and physical conditions, such as acidic or humid environments, depending on the application.

Advantages of Color-Coated Steel Sandwich Panels

Easy Installation

Steel sandwich panels are lightweight and easy to handle, making installation faster and more efficient. Under suitable site conditions, an experienced worker can install up to 150 m² per day. The panels are prefabricated to the required specifications, reducing the need for additional on-site processing and helping shorten the construction period.

Compared with conventional building materials, which may require 6–7 months for completion, buildings using insulated steel sandwich panels can potentially be completed within 1–2 months, depending on the project size and construction conditions.

Steel sandwich panels are available in a wide range of steel types, core materials, colors, surface patterns, dimensions, and thicknesses. This allows you to select a panel configuration that suits your specific building requirements and application.

Corrugated sandwich panels combine the strength of steel with an insulated core, providing a durable solution for building roofs and walls. PPGI PUF panels and GI sandwich panels offer good corrosion resistance and can be used in different environments.

For projects requiring enhanced weather resistance and durability, color-coated sandwich panels with PVDF coatings can provide improved resistance to UV exposure and weathering, helping extend the service life of the panels. Their low-maintenance requirements also help reduce long-term maintenance work.

Compared with PPGI roofing sheets, PPGI sandwich panels provide significantly better thermal insulation because of their insulated core.

Depending on the core material, thermal conductivity (λ) can range from approximately 0.024 W/(m·K) for polyurethane (PU) to around 0.05 W/(m·K) for mineral wool. This helps reduce heat transfer through the building envelope and makes sandwich panels suitable for buildings exposed to both hot and cold climates.

The insulated core also helps reduce the transmission of external noise, providing additional sound insulation for enclosed spaces.

Sandwich panels can help slow the spread of fire and provide additional protection for buildings and their occupants. However, fire performance depends largely on the core material and panel construction.

For projects with specific fire-safety requirements, the appropriate core material should be selected according to local building codes and project requirements. Mineral wool and other fire-resistant core materials may be preferred where higher fire resistance is required.
