hot dip galvanized steel coil

Galvanized Steel Coil

Hot-dip galvanized steel combines the strength of steel with the corrosion resistance and durability of a zinc coating, making it widely used in construction, automotive, and home appliances. We offer hot-dip galvanized steel in various forms, including coils, sheets, and strips, with or without spangle. Thickness ranges from 0.12 to 4 mm, while width ranges from 600 to 1,500 mm.

Applications of Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel

Hot-dip galvanized steel is widely used in construction, home appliances, automotive manufacturing, containers, transportation, and other industries. In the construction industry, it is widely used for roofing sheets, gutters, downspouts, drainage systems, partition walls, exterior wall cladding, ventilation ducts, fire protection pipes, prefabricated buildings, guardrails, steel-structure warehouses, steel structures, roller shutter doors, ceiling supports, and more.In addition, HDG steel is also the base metal for PPGI steel. It is widely used in household appliances, including air-conditioning components, back panels, side panels, equipment housings, freezers, and other applications.

How Is Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel Manufactured?

Hot-dip galvanized steel sheets are produced from hot-rolled or cold-rolled steel as the base material using a continuous hot-dip galvanizing process. Specifically, the steel substrate is continuously immersed in a molten zinc bath at approximately 450°C, forming a protective zinc coating on its surface. Before galvanizing, the substrate undergoes degreasing, cleaning, drying, and annealing. Hot-dip galvanized steel is available in both sheet and coil forms.

Key Advantages of Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel

Excellent Corrosion Resistance and Durability

The zinc coating protects the steel substrate by isolating it from oxygen and also acts as a sacrificial anode, corroding preferentially to protect the underlying steel. Generally, a thicker zinc coating provides greater corrosion resistance. In addition, the zinc coating offers long-lasting protection, making hot-dip galvanized steel particularly suitable for harsh outdoor environments.

It retains the inherent properties of steel, including excellent toughness, impact resistance, and wear resistance, making it an ideal material for construction and industrial applications. Its smooth, lustrous surface allows for direct use and can also be embossed or painted to meet different application requirements.

The zinc coating helps prevent rust and corrosion, reducing maintenance frequency and long-term costs, making it a cost-effective choice for long-term use.
